Monday Presentations are Mandatory. Thursday Sessions are Office Hours to review assignments in more detail. The Certified Healthcare Builder Program will immerse builders in the challenging environment of a Healthcare Renovation and is appropriate for seasoned healthcare builders as well as future leaders ready to start their first Healthcare Renovation. Each participant will be challenged and supported through a mix of presentations, individual assignments, and office hours to ensure assignments are fully understood and completed. As AI eases our access to standards and information, the program is designed to train you to prevent and solve complex problems that AI tools cannot. The program outline is as follows: Week 1: Introduction to Healthcare Construction and Review of Basic Concepts - Motivation, fulfillment, and challenges of Healthcare Construction - Understanding of owner needs including patient safety/satisfaction - Review of Sample Project and Introduction to all MEP systems - Assignment: Self Review of MEP Systems (Links will be provided) Week 2: Infection Prevention - Importance of Infection Prevention during Construction Projects - Overview of ICRA Standards and ICRA Plans - Deep Dive on ICRA Barriers, Negative Air Machines, and Best Practices - Assignment: Develop ICRA Plan including drawings/calculations Week 3: Cut/Cap/Make Safe and Demolition - Infection Prevention during the potentially dangerous demolition phase - Pitfalls to look out for during cut/cap/make safe - Communications/Coordination with the Hospital during this critical phase - Assignment: Develop a cut/cap/make safe checklist and shut down log Week 4: Architectural Assemblies in Healthcare Renovations - Infection Prevention associated with architectural assemblies - Lessons learned with unique architectural assemblies in Healthcare - Assignment: Develop a proposed plan for active corridor finish upgrades Week 5: MEP Systems in Healthcare Renovations - Basics of Controls, Air Handling Units, and other mechanical systems - Basics of Electrical components and Coordination Studies - Low voltage systems - Assignment: Develop a proposed plan for a challenging mechanical installation Week 6: Testing and Balancing, Commissioning, and Closeout - Infection prevention as you finish a phase - TAB, Commissioning, and Closeout Overview - Assignment: Solve problems on many scenarios based on what you’ve learned Book a Virtual Consultation for Group discounts and alt. sessions

Cancellation Policy
The course is designed to be continuous with the same peers week after week. Presentation sessions (the first session every week) are mandatory whereas the Thursday sessions (office hours) are meant to review/discuss the assignments. It is not mandatory to attend the entire Thursday session if you fully understand the assignment, complete it satisfactorily, and don't have any questions. Thursday sessions may be a shared office hour space with other Certified Healthcare Builder Courses (would be the same week/assignment). Please review all Monday sessions and confirm you can attend all prior to booking. If something comes up and you have to miss a Monday class please contact Jake Braford and he will attempt to work you into another session but there are no guarantees.
